The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: TreVeyon Henderson, the 169th pick, roughly 98 picks past where he belonged.
They are betting Fleming proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a problem off the edge. Need was not the driver here.
Kenneth Grant in Round 2, Pick 21 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Alfred Collins at the 73rd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kaleb Johnson in pick No. 74 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
TreVeyon Henderson at slot 169 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cody Simon in No. 170 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Lathan Ransom still on the board at the Round 5 slot. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Davison Igbinosun at pick 172 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had cheaper options than Gunnar Helm at Round 6, Pick 4, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Danny Stutsman at pick 186 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Bryce Foster all the way to pick No. 205, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nice patience on Miles Frazier, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Julian Fleming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
