The rest of the league had time to spare on Roger Rosengarten; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 44 spots ahead at the 91st overall pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Getting Taylor-Demerson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a bendy edge with upside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
You do not let a cornerback like Quinyon Mitchell reach pick 41 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Adonai Mitchell at pick No. 58 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Dominick Puni in No. 88, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Roger Rosengarten at slot 91 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Dadrion Taylor-Demerson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They read the board right and Isaiah Davis was the payoff at pick No. 169. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Jaylan Ford in the 202nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste in slot 219 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dominique Hampton at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Austin Reed in No. 255 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
