Somebody in the 256th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Wyatt Milum, the No. 35 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
The Laremy Tunsil pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In the end it comes back to Tyler Warren, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 31 they get a security blanket over the middle, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jalon Walker in pick 63 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Ashton Jeanty in the 95th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Walter Nolen in the 132nd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Wyatt Milum in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
