The Buccaneers did not so much draft Logan Taylor as overpay for him, 32 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
The Perkins Jr. pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots still on the board. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
You do not let a tight end like Kenyon Sadiq reach pick No. 46 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jacob Rodriguez at No. 77 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Harold Perkins Jr. while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots sat open.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Charles Demmings in the Round 5 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jeff Caldwell slipping to Round 6, Pick 14 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Logan Taylor at pick 229 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
