You can hear the double-takes from here. The Patriots took Shilo Sanders at pick 235, roughly 48 spots before his name belonged.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Henderson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 11 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Abdul Carter in slot 47, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jonah Savaiinaea at pick No. 67 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
TreVeyon Henderson at Round 3, Pick 14 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Danny Stutsman at pick 98 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid a round early for Davison Igbinosun in the Round 4 slot, more than the board wanted. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A real head-scratcher, LT Overton in No. 139 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Shilo Sanders at Round 7, Pick 21 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
