Boards are made to be trusted, and the Patriots shredded theirs for J.J. Weaver. He came off 115 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
On value alone, Sampson makes the weekend a net positive. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a cornerstone up front, reach and all.
The board fumbled Jahdae Barron all the way to the 36th pick, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jalon Walker. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dylan Sampson at No. 83 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Deone Walker at the 105th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Gunnar Helm, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Parker Brailsford at No. 149. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Rod Moore at the 220th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Thor Griffith at the 224th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
J.J. Weaver in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
