Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That Colson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 8 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Troy Franklin. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Junior Colson at the 68th pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A tidy bit of business in No. 95, where Trey Benson graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Johnny Wilson slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 1 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
