The rest of the league will want that one back. Jha'Quan Jackson tumbling to the Eagles in slot 210 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Reaching for Jacobs left real value on the table behind him. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nice patience on Graham Barton, who had no business lasting to pick No. 39. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at the 51st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The board had cheaper options than Marshawn Kneeland at slot 71, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Trey Benson in Round 3, Pick 25 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Dominick Puni in pick 92, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in No. 119. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Davis. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Khristian Boyd. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nehemiah Pritchett at the 161st overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid a round early for Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 5, Pick 35, more than the board wanted. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A wild overpay on Curtis Jacobs in pick No. 172, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Somehow Jha'Quan Jackson was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
