For all the boxes ticked, the Packers skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was.
They are betting Johnson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Haynes steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The back end got a real overhaul.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kamren Kinchens at pick 41 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at No. 57, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 25, with Christian Haynes worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mike Sainristil in pick No. 91. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Davis in the 98th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
MarShawn Lloyd in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A real head-scratcher, Cedric Johnson in slot 135 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
