You could see the war room lean forward. Jermod McCoy at the 214th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The veteran additions, Jordyn Brooks chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Taking Fernando Mendoza in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Sonny Styles here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Dillon Thieneman in pick No. 57, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jordyn Tyson at pick 60 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kayden McDonald in slot 78 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow David Bailey was still sitting there in the 113th overall pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Spencer Fano reach No. 156 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jermod McCoy in Round 6, Pick 33 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Connor Lew at pick No. 221 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
