For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The 49ers walked out of the weekend still thin at wide receiver, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
Joly at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The World pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get a downhill hitter at safety. More want than need.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 58 with a little surplus value in Chase Bisontis. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Zuhn III. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Justin Joly in slot 133 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Nothing to complain about; Kaleb Proctor went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They jumped the gun on Isaiah World, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
