There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Zion Logue a full 29 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Beebe value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A conviction pick on Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick No. 36 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 24. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A premium they did not need to pay, Johnny Wilson a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They let Cooper Beebe come to them and pounced at No. 87. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Leonard Taylor III at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Braelon Allen at pick 124 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Josh Proctor at pick 174 when waiting would have done the job. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Zion Logue at pick No. 212 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reach on Demorie Tate in the Round 7 slot; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
