The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Malachi Fields, No. 111, roughly 32 picks past where he belonged.
They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Peter Woods at the 37th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Malachi Fields still on the board at pick 111. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A slide stopped in No. 145, with Oscar Delp worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Aamil Wagner in slot 186, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.

They did well to land Kaden Wetjen in the 239th pick, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Zavion Thomas at Round 7, Pick 30 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
