Whoever sat across the table from the Giants should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Reaching for Barner left real value on the table behind him. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 18 they get a No. 1 receiver, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a press-man option on the boundary. A clean fit for the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, Xavier Worthy a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cooper Beebe in pick No. 49 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Mike Sainristil in the 70th pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Corum at pick 80, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Maason Smith at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
AJ Barner in No. 141 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaylan Ford at Round 6, Pick 8 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It adds depth where they could use a little.
