You can draft well and still miss the point. The Giants did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to interior defensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Thomas Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Reaching for Cohen left real value on the table behind him.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a double-digit-sack hope. A clean fit for the roster.
They read the board right and Adonai Mitchell was the payoff at No. 37. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Chris Braswell at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Brian Thomas Jr. in pick No. 69 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They did well to land Kiran Amegadjie in slot 105, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Javion Cohen in the 142nd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in pick 183, where Tyler Batty graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
