The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Emani Bailey, 46 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Dixon steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Chris Braswell at the 56th pick is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at pick 87, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Johnny Wilson in No. 88 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Justin Rogers in pick No. 174, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached a country mile for Emani Bailey at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
JD Bertrand in pick 219 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Circle this one: Johnny Dixon at slot 233 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Austin Reed at No. 244 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
