The 49ers checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

Nobody else had Caden Curry anywhere near pick No. 75. The 49ers did, by 57 spots, and that gap is the whole story. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Elarms-Orr at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.26 · Pick 58 · Omar Cooper Jr. · WR · rank 35
Circle this one: Omar Cooper Jr. at the 58th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Caden Curry · DE-EDGE · rank 132
Caden Curry at No. 75 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Keylan Rutledge · OG · rank 74
A slide stopped in pick No. 87, with Keylan Rutledge worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Kamari Ramsey · S · rank 78
They read the board right and Kamari Ramsey was the payoff at pick 89. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Domonique Orange · DT · rank 73
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Domonique Orange in Round 3, Pick 27, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.32 · Pick 96 · Tacario Davis · CB · rank 111
They paid a round early for Tacario Davis in slot 96, more than the board wanted. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Jack Endries · TE · rank 123
Jack Endries in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Isaiah World · OT · rank 148
Isaiah World at slot 129 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Nadame Tucker · DE-EDGE · rank 177
They talked themselves into Nadame Tucker at pick 133, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
R4.38 · Pick 138 · Beau Stephens · OG · rank 161
A wild overpay on Beau Stephens in Round 4, Pick 38, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.7 · Pick 147 · Keagen Trost · OT · rank 184
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Keagen Trost well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.6 · Pick 187 · Ephesians Prysock · CB · rank 192
No edge and no loss on Ephesians Prysock in the 187th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R6.28 · Pick 209 · Kaleb Elarms-Orr · LB · rank 183
Kaleb Elarms-Orr at No. 209 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
