Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Garrett Nussmeier at Round 2, Pick 12 is 37 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The bottom line is a respectable B.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.2 · Pick 2 · Rueben Bain Jr. · DE-EDGE · rank 3
In No. 2 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.16 · Pick 16 · Carnell Tate · WR · rank 12
In the 16th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. A real need, handled.
R2.1 · Pick 33 · CJ Allen · LB · rank 32
No drama and no debate, CJ Allen went about where he belonged in pick No. 33. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Garrett Nussmeier · QB · rank 81
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Garrett Nussmeier. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
