For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Texans walked out of the weekend still thin at running back, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

Landing Banks that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Every board in the league had Iheanachor lower, and that gap is the story.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Max Iheanachor · OT · rank 47
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 39
A straight-up fair deal on Emmanuel Pregnon at the 38th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Caleb Banks · DL · rank 42
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Caleb Banks for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
