Arizona Cardinals

Flashes of a plan, unevenly executed. Cardinals: C+.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cardinals would have aced it. Rylie Mills at slot 78 is 60 spots clear of where he belonged.

The McCord pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.16 · Pick 16 · Armand Membou · OT · rank 32
In pick 16 they get a building block for the line, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Jermari Harris · CB · rank 100
They reached a country mile for Jermari Harris at No. 47, and the board is aghast. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Rylie Mills · DL · rank 138
They reached into another round for Rylie Mills, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
R4.13 · Pick 114 · Tez Johnson · WR · rank 89
Tez Johnson at the 114th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.14 · Pick 153 · Kyle McCord · QB · rank 125
They barely believed it either: Kyle McCord still on the board at the Round 5 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
