You could see the war room lean forward. Azareye'h Thomas at slot 224 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Reaching for Gillotte left real value on the table behind him.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Clay Webb slid further than he should have, and pick 64 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ashton Gillotte in Round 3, Pick 5 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nick Emmanwori at No. 96 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No edge and no loss on Aireontae Ersery in the 128th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jonah Coleman at the 160th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Mansoor Delane in slot 193 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They robbed the room for Azareye'h Thomas here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
