Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Falcons spent Round 6, Pick 34 on Haynes King, a name most had 93 spots down the list. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Stukes. Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
Bryce Lance in pick No. 48 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Deion Burks in slot 79 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Treydan Stukes at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Haynes King. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They did well to land Zavion Thomas in the 231st overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
