Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Keon Coleman, the No. 36 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 3, Pick 4. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If Milton III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The kind of weekend a front office frames and hangs on the wall.

In the 31st overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
J.J. McCarthy in No. 34 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Keon Coleman in slot 68 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Will Shipley at Round 4, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
