Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
However the rest shakes out, Washington at that price is a win they earned. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Reaching for Bethune left real value on the table behind him.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Ja'Tavion Sanders at slot 35 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 39 with a little surplus value in Keon Coleman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A quiet steal in the 104th overall pick: Trey Benson for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Matt Goncalves in Round 4, Pick 20 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Ainias Smith in the 136th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Braiden McGregor in pick No. 182 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They went early on Joe Milton III in the Round 6 slot, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tahj Washington in the 229th pick, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tatum Bethune this early at slot 238. It adds depth where they could use a little.
