You could see the war room lean forward. Erick All at Round 7, Pick 9 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, J.J. McCarthy at Round 2, Pick 2 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Braden Fiske at par in slot 68, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dominick Puni at pick 104. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Johnny Wilson for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kamal Hadden slipping to the 182nd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They will replay Erick All at No. 229 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
