It is the swing that defines the weekend: Gabe Hall in pick 150, a good 71 spots before the room expected him.
On value alone, Jones makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Michael Thomas pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a long-term starter on the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value said wait; Braelon Allen in the 87th overall pick says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Gabe Hall. The roster fit checks out.
Joe Milton III at slot 168 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Delmar Glaze, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A big swing on Frank Gore Jr. at No. 174, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nathaniel Watson at pick 216 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Sheridan Jones was the payoff at the 233rd overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dominique Hampton slid further than he should have, and Round 7, Pick 24 is lovely value for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
