The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Dolphins watched Elijah Jones slide 43 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Reaching for Booker left real value on the table behind him.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Tyler Nubin in the 33rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in Round 2, Pick 23; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A premium they did not need to pay, Austin Booker a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Elijah Jones at pick No. 158 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Fabien Lovett at slot 184 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Curtis Jacobs. The roster fit checks out.
They took Bub Means at par in the 241st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
