Start where it matters. The Commanders took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Amegadjie. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Smith pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 2 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Kamren Kinchens in No. 36, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Kalen King went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value with a capital V on Kiran Amegadjie in the 67th overall pick, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Blake Fisher in the 100th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ainias Smith at pick No. 102 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaheim Bell in pick 141 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Isaiah Davis at Round 6, Pick 6 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They let Jase McClellan come to them and pounced at No. 223. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
