The tape said wait; the Bills did not. Jack Pyburn went at No. 220, a good 63 picks before the board was ready. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Landing Bell that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get the heartbeat of the defense at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Domonique Orange at No. 91 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
You do not let a wide receiver like Skyler Bell reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Hezekiah Masses all the way to pick No. 165, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kage Casey slipping to the 168th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Kaleb Elarms-Orr in the 182nd overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They talked themselves into Jack Pyburn at pick No. 220, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
