Buffalo Bills

Nobody dealt better than the Bills this weekend: B-.

Nobody else had Jack Pyburn anywhere near pick 220. The Bills did, by 65 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Lane falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.21 · Pick 21 · Caleb Lomu · OT · rank 28
In the 21st overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R1.26 · Pick 26 · Denzel Boston · WR · rank 30
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Connor Lew · C · rank 82
Connor Lew slid further than he should have, and slot 91 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 132
Harold Perkins Jr. at pick No. 99 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.21 · Pick 121 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 109
They let Nicholas Singleton come to them and pounced at No. 121. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Ja'Kobi Lane · WR · rank 98
They will replay Ja'Kobi Lane at the 126th pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.25 · Pick 165 · Domani Jackson · CB · rank 174
The board had cheaper options than Domani Jackson at the 165th pick, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.28 · Pick 168 · Kage Casey · OT · rank 159
Kage Casey at No. 168 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.1 · Pick 182 · Zane Durant · DT · rank 177
Nothing to complain about; Zane Durant went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.4 · Pick 220 · Jack Pyburn · LB-EDGE · rank 285
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jack Pyburn this early at pick 220. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.8 · Pick 224 · Xavier Nwankpa · S · rank 228
No drama and no debate, Xavier Nwankpa went about where he belonged in pick No. 224. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
