The board owed the Bills one, and it paid up: Gracen Halton, the No. 125 name on the board, sitting there at the 165th pick like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
If Jamison-Travis pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th overall pick they get an enforcer at safety, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Malachi Lawrence in slot 91 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Malik Benson in Round 4, Pick 26 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Gracen Halton was still sitting there in the 165th pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid a round early for Kaleb Elarms-Orr in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Bobby Jamison-Travis at No. 182 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Andre Fuller at pick No. 220 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
