The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kurtis Rourke, the 179th pick, roughly 35 picks past where he belonged. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: linebacker settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 30 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 56, where Xavier Watts graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy little value on Elic Ayomanor in Round 2, Pick 30, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 108 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Tory Horton was still sitting there in the 131st overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kobe King in the 171st pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Jabbar Muhammad in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
They will replay Kurtis Rourke at No. 179 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jaylen Reed in No. 206, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Jack Kiser at pick 208 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
