Every other box got a look, but wide receiver did not. The Eagles will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Hall Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If Trotter Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get an anchor for the offensive line, reach and all.
They jumped the gun on Jeremiah Trotter Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor need, but a need all the same.
T.J. Tampa at the 53rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Michael Hall Jr. is a better player than No. 98 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good price on Kitan Oladapo in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nelson Ceaser in Round 5, Pick 35. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
AJ Barner at the 172nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A conviction pick on JD Bertrand at pick 210 that the board grades a round light. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
