Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Luke McCaffrey, the No. 149 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 202nd overall pick.
If Proctor pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.
In the end it comes back to Dallas Turner, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a problem off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan slipping to No. 50 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on James Williams in the 120th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They jumped the gun on Curtis Jacobs, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Somehow Luke McCaffrey was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Josh Proctor in Round 6, Pick 35 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
