The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Cooper DeJean, the No. 60 name on the board, sitting there at Round 3, Pick 34 like a gift left on the doorstep. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Robinson lower, and that gap is the story.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The dealing was even money, start to finish.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 28 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 2, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Caelen Carson at the 60th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let a cornerback like Cooper DeJean reach pick 97 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Smael Mondon Jr. in No. 137, just ahead of his grade. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Mike Sainristil at the 172nd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
LaDarius Henderson at slot 175 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Darius Robinson well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Isaiah Williams in pick 249 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
