You build a draft on nights like this. Emeka Egbuka had no business being available in pick 47, and the Cardinals did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They are betting Barton proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Steal is underselling it; Emeka Egbuka at pick 47 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Aeneas Peebles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Lander Barton at Round 4, Pick 13 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jackson Slater at No. 153 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
