They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Dankwah reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Drake Maye went about where he belonged in the Round 1 slot. The roster fit checks out.
They took Troy Franklin at par in No. 34, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Patrick Paul at pick No. 69 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Cam Hart in the 103rd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Davis in pick 154, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tip Reiman. A need, and now a little less of one.
A clean, defensible pick in the 193rd overall pick with a little surplus value in Cornelius Johnson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good price on Delmar Glaze in Round 6, Pick 21, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Anim Dankwah in pick 231, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
