Somebody in pick No. 164 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Danny Stutsman, the No. 86 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The Skattebo pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board fumbled Malaki Starks all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Cam Skattebo at pick No. 86 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Savion Williams in the 122nd overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Danny Stutsman at Round 5, Pick 27 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ben Yurosek at the 239th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
