The Patriots treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 4, Pick 4 on Sai'vion Jones a full 43 spots early. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Kiner pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Colston Loveland and all.
Pick-by-Pick
The board had Colston Loveland higher than the 38th pick, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Deone Walker in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Xavier Restrepo slipping to the 77th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Sai'vion Jones. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Emery Jones Jr. at pick No. 145 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Jonah Monheim went about where he belonged in pick 150. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Seth McLaughlin in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taking Corey Kiner in the 222nd pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
