The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
If Holker pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hicks.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They liked Bo Nix enough to skip the value, taking him in the 20th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Good price on Troy Franklin in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A slide stopped in slot 51, with Kamari Lassiter worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kingsley Suamataia is a better player than Round 3, Pick 4 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nice patience on Jaden Hicks, who had no business lasting to No. 84. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached a country mile for Dallin Holker at pick No. 102, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A quiet steal in pick 136: Cedric Gray for less than the market said. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They took Jha'Quan Jackson at par in the 179th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at No. 231 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
