Thirty-one other rooms let DJ James slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at Round 3, Pick 24. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 2 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Cooper Beebe slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 24 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow DJ James was still sitting there in slot 87, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
