The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Jawhar Jordan, taking him 80 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. With edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on TE-EDGE is the choice that costs them.
The Hart steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Keon Coleman at pick 34, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A surprising call. With edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent the 68th overall pick on Cade Stover, a TE-EDGE they were not short of.
Value with a capital V on Cam Hart in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Joe Milton III at Round 4, Pick 36 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jawhar Jordan. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A real head-scratcher, Kingsley Eguakun in the 229th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
