Nobody else had Michael Trigg anywhere near Round 7, Pick 13. The Chargers did, by 28 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
Getting Harris where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Josh Newton at the 44th overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Rod Moore in the 76th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Blake Fisher slipping to pick 112 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Ty'Ron Hopper went about where he belonged in slot 149. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No edge and no loss on Jo'Quavious Marks in Round 5, Pick 14; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Gabe Hall, who had no business lasting to the 190th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taking Tre Harris in Round 7, Pick 1 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Michael Trigg in pick No. 233 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
