The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chargers watched Xavier Worthy slide 41 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If Williams pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 8 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Emeka Egbuka at Round 2, Pick 8 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Xavier Worthy at the 72nd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Quinn Ewers at pick 77 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Brian Thomas Jr. was still sitting there in pick No. 79, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Bucky Irving still on the board at the 108th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Khyree Jackson at slot 145 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach on Darius Robinson in the Round 6 slot; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Miyan Williams at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
