Boards are made to be trusted, and the Chargers shredded theirs for Austin Stogner. He came off 126 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That Arnold pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Terrion Arnold in pick No. 37. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Blake Corum in No. 69 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, McKinnley Jackson a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Beau Brade went about where he belonged in the 139th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
By-the-book stuff, Delmar Glaze at pick 183 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Austin Stogner at No. 223 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy little value on Josh Wallace in slot 256, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
