The rest of the league will want that one back. Renardo Green tumbling to the Chargers in the 183rd pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
They are betting Sweat proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 7 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
They went early on Ja'Tavion Sanders in pick 37, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value said wait; T'Vondre Sweat in the 38th overall pick says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Mike Sainristil at Round 3, Pick 5 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mason McCormick slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Drake Nugent in No. 139 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Renardo Green in slot 183 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Michael Barrett at the 184th pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They barely believed it either: Michael Wiley still on the board at slot 223. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach for Jalen Coker in the 256th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
