This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Daequan Hardy, the No. 195 name on the board, stolen at slot 223.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Eboigbe pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 8 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Fair-plus on Ja'Tavion Sanders, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in the 43rd overall pick with a little surplus value in Ennis Rakestraw Jr.. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Adisa Isaac at Round 3, Pick 5 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick No. 79 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good price on Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jalen McMillan at slot 106 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Beaux Limmer at No. 124 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Christian Jones in the 139th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Justin Eboigbe at Round 5, Pick 6 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marist Liufau. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Daequan Hardy at No. 223 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tyler Owens in the 232nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
LaDarius Henderson slid further than he should have, and slot 256 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
