Somebody in the 122nd overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chargers sat still while Cam Hart, the No. 100 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Malik Nabers in pick No. 5 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Payton Wilson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
Value with a capital V on Brenden Rice in pick 105, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Braelon Allen in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cam Hart in No. 122 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Sataoa Laumea at slot 140 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cody Schrader at Round 6, Pick 6 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in the 225th overall pick, with Logan Lee worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They let Daijahn Anthony come to them and pounced at pick 253. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
