You could see the war room lean forward. Ollie Gordon II at Round 7, Pick 4 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The Trapilo reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Emeka Egbuka is a better player than pick No. 38 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ozzy Trapilo in No. 69, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
TreVeyon Henderson in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wild overpay on Joshua Farmer in slot 105, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cody Simon slipping to pick 145 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Hayden Conner at Round 7, Pick 1 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ollie Gordon II at the 222nd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Miles Frazier at par in the 240th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
