Call it larceny. Caelen Carson sat on the board until Round 4, Pick 25, and the Dolphins did not need to be asked twice.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Beebe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A reach on Cooper Beebe in slot 30; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Zach Frazier at the 55th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 92 with a little surplus value in Jonah Elliss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A premium they did not need to pay, Leonard Taylor III a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Caelen Carson in Round 4, Pick 25 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Thomas in pick 158; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dwight McGlothern at the 165th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They did well to land Ty'Ron Hopper in pick No. 184, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They read the board right and Cornelius Johnson was the payoff at pick No. 198. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jalen Sundell at Round 7, Pick 21 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
